Join Us for the 3rd Annual United Against Hate Week: 11/30-12/6

What started as a poster campaign here in Berkeley three years ago has transformed into a national movement. United Against Hate Week is a call for action in local communities to stop hate and implicit biases that are a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of our neighborhoods, towns and cities. In 2017, a poster campaign started in response to white supremacist rallies in Berkeley and other cities. Within a week of the launch, posters were found in the windows of every Berkeley neighborhood with other Bay Area cities joining in. Today the movement continues to grow throughout the Bay Area, California and nationally.

There are multiple ways you can get involved next week, including:

  • Join a Twitter storm at 11am on Monday, 11/30. Download this poster and write why you Stand United Against Hate, post a selfie of you and the poster with the hashtag #UnitedAgainstHateWeek. You can also just retweet a United Against Hate message by searching for the hashtag!

  • Check out the list of events happening during the week, including the kickoff webinar at 5pm PT, Monday, November 30 (see link below)

  • Consider creating your own event or activity with 20 Ideas for Action.

  • Learn more about previous United Against Hate Weeks by listening to stories in this video gallery from previous years.

Virtual Kick-Off Event this Monday

Despite restrictions caused by COVID-19, this year is expected to be the biggest United Against Hate Week yet. Going virtual, the big kick-off event will take place this Monday, November 30th at 5pm. The Virtual Conversation features national experts whose work deeply explores the threat of hate and examines how to counter the recruiting methods of white nationalist movements. The panelists share a deep connection to the topic and have horrific personal experience with acts of hate.
