Bivalent “Omicron” Booster Appointments Available

The Pfizer Bivalent “Omicron” booster is now available for anyone over the age of 12 at all City of Berkeley coordinated vaccine events. Anyone can get a vaccine for FREE at any of the City coordinated clinics regardless of insurance or immigration status.

Individuals 12 years of age and older who have completed the primary two dose series are eligible for a single booster dose of the Pfizer Bivalent booster if it has been at least two months since they have completed their primary vaccine series or most recent booster. This booster incorporates both the original COVID-19 vaccine and the new one that protects against the highly contagious BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants of Omicron.

There are plenty of other opportunities to get an appointment. One of the easiest ways is to contact your primary healthcare provider. Supply may be limited as distribution has just begun, but in most cases you should be able to get an appointment within a couple of weeks, if not earlier. Latest COVID-19 Updates

As of Wednesday, September 14, there have been 20,109 cases of COVID-19 in Berkeley. Over the last 30 days, there were 612 cases, and we are currently averaging 16 cases over the last seven days. The case rate, which is based on last week’s numbers, is 13.4 cases per 100,000 residents per day. Test positivity is at 6.1%, which has been stable over the past few weeks. Total hospitalizations, including ICU numbers remain stable throughout the County, and are on the decline in Berkeley. 65 Berkeley residents have died from COVID-19 to date, with 9 deaths recorded so far in 2022, the latest one occurring on August 7, 2022. 95% of Berkeley residents are fully vaccinated, with 87% of vaccinated people receiving at least one booster.
