BUILDING OUR FUTURE

We're working to make the progressive, sustainable, innovative vision of Berkeley a reality.

Mayor Arreguin is committed to building more affordable housing, raising the minimum wage, continuing Berkeley’s trailblazing environmental leadership, and doing all that we can so that every child born in Berkeley, every family who lives here or decides to move here can get a fair shot at reaching for their dreams.

Housing Affordability The Mayor is working to create long-term affordability in Berkeley, and build more housing for all income levels along major transit corridors.

Education Berkeley has some of the best public schools in the state, but an achievement gap remains for African-American and Latino students, and those from low-income families.

Environment Climate change and environmental disparities are issues that affect us all. Our commitment to resilience has made Berkeley a beacon of innovation in sustainability.

Economic Development Berkeley’s small businesses collectively provide thousands of jobs, and our economy is enriched by our arts scene.

Homelessness An estimated 1,000 people, or 1 percent of the city’s entire population, are homeless. Since Mayor Arreguin's election in November, the city has taken bold steps to address this crisis.

Budget Accountability While Berkeley already engages in a meticulous budget process, Mayor Arreguin believes that accountability can always be improved.
